Thanks to all who came out to the COIL toast on Thursday night at Dixon Place. With the insanity of COIL it already seems like a week ago, but it was in fact last night that we were emerging from Peggy Shaw’s performance of Ruff to find Joro Boro spinning some Balkan dance tunes accompanied by the amazing Hannah Thiem on Violin. Just before midnight Vallejo gave a great toast (video to the right) in which he talked about the roots of COIL as small dance festival 8 years ago. And look what it has become…

If you haven’t stopped by the hub, there is a lot going on this weekend and next week:
COIL HUB nights
Our conversation series with BOMB Magazine, SPAN
Co-Curated events with Dixon Place
-Gourmet sandwiches, snacks and drinks by VBar plus free WIFI.

When will P.S. 122 engage performances that interrogate and subvert homophobic and sexist practices in the Middle East in the spirit of multiculturalism, or will it continue its fetishistic focus on amerikkka or europe? When will it engage in authentic transgressivity instead of its tired preaching to its squeaky-clean, mostly whitebread audience?
