Joseph Silovsky
'Jester of Tonga'

World Premiere

“Joe has shaken our walls, tumbled our tumbleweed, moved our moon and even dared to eat our chicken. There is no artist Radiohole would rather work with. We consider him our 5th hole.” – Radiohole

pure

At last, the man known as one of downtown's technological wizards steps out from behind the curtain and into his first full length solo theatrical production. Joe Silovsky and his robot Stanley tell the very true and complex story of Jesse Dean, the sensational modern-day Court Jester to the Royal Tongan Court. Twenty suitcases packed full with island lore spill their secrets, scandals and adventures onto the stage.

Finances, Fishing and Prisoners:

I apologize for the quality of that last one. An undercurrent in the Tonga story has become finances. I have worked it all out now (at least to make it out of Tonga and back to the states), but it has stuckin my craw and stopped me from focussing on telling the story of what has been happening. This is the crux of the financial dilemma: A couple days ago I tried to withdraw $400 Tongan. For some reason the machine didn't work, "transaction declined," so I thought maybe I entered the pin wrong, and tried again. Same result. Went to the bank branch, tried again, no dice. Went inside, asked a lady, she suggestedI do $200, and that worked. But the next time I tried to pull some money out, I noticed my balance was quite low. Today I checked my balance on line, and this first two attempts, though they didn't work on my end, worked on the other and my account was down $800 Tongan that I had never received!! I went back to the bank, and the lady said I have to contact my bank and have them contact them, then they can track down the mistake and reimburse me. That doesn't help me pay my hotel and other expenses right now. I spent a lot of time on the internet trying to suss out various options, and finally have solved thesituation so that I have enough dough to get out of Compton. So I am now able to relax and continue with the story...

Debate Society
'Cape Disappointment'

World Premiere

pure

"The Debate Society's theatrical brilliance can't be argued with." -John Del Signore, Gothamist

The Debate Society's 4th full-length play transforms the upstairs space at P.S. 122 into their own version of a Drive-In theater to present an intimate and absurd perspective of classic Americana. The Brooklyn based play-makers invite audiences to experience the Feature Presentation from the comfort of their own private 4-seater, equipped with a cooler, speaker box, and a close-up view of the action. Like an evening at the Drive-In, Cape Disappointment starts with a "cartoon" and proceeds to the feature: a road-trip epic populated by characters racing across the crumbling landscapes of bygone hey-days. There's even an intermission tossed in just long enough to grab some popcorn.

The Debate Society is a Brooklyn based company that creates new plays through the collaboration of Hannah Bos, Paul Thureen, and Oliver Butler. Joining co-writers Bos (Gothamist Best Actress of 2007) and Thureen (Hostage Song) onstage is actor Michael Cyril Creighton (The Vietnamization of New Jersey) and acclaimed NY actress, Drama Desk and two-time Obie Award winner and Emmy nominee Pamela Payton-Wright, who is also the mother of Cape Disappointment director Oliver Butler.

Lewis Forever
'LEWIS FOREVER: Freak the Room'

World Premiere

pure

LEWIS FOREVER is three sisters and a brother, a director, two dancers and a musician; a family living half in New York and half in Berlin, half Dominican and half Jewish American, a performance collective and a bloodline. What happens when we freak the fiction of cultural and familial identification? There is play and fantasy. There is sex and violence. There is an impostor. Words seem to come out almost right. Reactions test their relationships to actions and everything appears as more than it seems. LEWIS FOREVER's home lies between continents, identities and meanings Performance Space 122 is their living room, and they will freak it.

Edit Kaldor
'Point Blank'

World Premiere

pure

"The purpose of life explored through the lens of a camera... One hell of a performance!"
- Le Soir, Belgium

The definitive spy-ware performance, ‘Point Blank’ is a voyeur's paradise. For years Edit Kaldor has been observing, taking 'spy-photos', and capturing people’s private moments.
19 year-old Nada joins the audience in performing an imagery autopsy - uncovering implications and patterns. Become witness to the wide range of and, at times, excessive human behavior.

Edit Kaldor was born in Budapest. At the age of 13 she immigrated with her mother to the United States, where she lived for ten years. After receiving her degree in English and Theater at Barnard College (New York) and University College (London), she worked for 6 years with Peter Halasz (Squat theater/Love theater, New York), collaborating on numerous theater performances and filmscripts. She then enrolledat DasArts (the postgraduate performing arts center in Amsterdam), where she started making her own theatre pieces, which soon received international acclaim.
