"Has the makings of a cult fave" - Variety

N.Y. PREMIERE

Flawed heroes, sympathetic monsters and haughty professors collide as this hefty poem is rescued from the grasp of 1,000 years of highbrow analysis and transformed into a defiantly raucous musical. Written by Jason Craig, music by Dave Malloy, directed by Rod Hipskind

Problem Radical(s)

"Experimental theatricalist opera just the way such things should be and rarely are." - Richard Foreman

WORLD PREMIERE

An experimental opera, Problem Radical(s) mixes everyday radical acts, a sprawling sculpture, massive inflating tarps, industrious performers, and hardcore noise. Performers navigate an ever-expanding, unstable installation. Musicians and singers reassemble the modular electronic and instrumental score, evoking American radical thinkers, civic activists, and maneuverable personal blimps.

Problem Radical(s) is a project headed by New York-based performance group Object Collection: Kara Feely (writer-director) and Travis Just (composer), in collaboration with visual artist Hannah Dougherty (installation), Berlin-based artist Daniel Koetter (video), and New York-based designers Peter Ksander (costume) and Miranda Hardy (lighting).

Dark Horse/Black Forest at The Gershwin Hotel

Presented by Performance Space 122 and Neke Carson

"As much an installation artist as a choreographer, [Castro] creates intricate environments in which lighting, costumes and set share equal weight with steps."
- Gia Kourlas, The New York Times

"Castro's upcoming duet takes voyeurism to a precipice... it doesn't happen on a stage but in a bathroom like yours."
-Lori Ortiz

A special Dance Installation: Space is Limited, Book in Advance

There are two casts that rotate bi-weekly: a man and a woman (Heather Olson & Joseph Poulson), and two men (Luke Miller & Darrin Wright).

"When a weary-eyed TSA security agent compliments your carry-on bag, you know you've got something special.

The Crumpler Western Lawn is more than a mere aesthetic marvel. This courier bag from Crumpler, the stalwart Aussie bag company, provides all the high-performance details you'd ever want: two external pockets and three internal (one with a Velcro closure); a wide, comfortable strap with an easily adjustable buckle and a "slap strap" loop that keeps the excess strap from trailing behind; and two Velcro lip closures.

The water-resistant 1,000-denier shell and 300-denier ripstop lining keep things dry and durable, and the 854-cubic-inch volume is perfect for lugging all the essentials onto that laborious, long flight or for back-'n'-forth commuting duties.

And for the camera buffs out there, you can pair the Western Lawn with Crumpler's Bucket —a fully-padded, compartmentalized camera bag with a zipper lid—for an instantaneous photo satchel that doesn't announce that you're lugging around your digital SLR and myriad lenses in your courier bag."
-Nathan Borchelt, Away.com
