Obie Award-winning playwright Rinne Groff and director Michael Sexton - the respective writer and director of Jimmy Carter Was a Democrat - return to P.S. 122 armed with a hatful of cheap tricks, hurt feelings, and beguiling questions about sex, theatre, ghosts and the Two of Clubs.
Actor/magician Steve Cuiffo (Major Bang) conjures Great, a rogue magician with a dangerous past and a promising future who seduces with sleight of hand. His juicy new assistant Trilby is hungry for the truth behind the illusion. In this mysterious love story brimming with top hats, disappearing coins, floating objects, and the infamous "chick-on-a stick," every player has a few tricks up his sleeve. Is it all smoke and mirrors? Only the lovely assistant knows for sure . . .
Featuring Steve Cuiffo, Aubrey Dollar*, Emily Swallow*, and Laura Kai Chen*. Casting by Vince Liebhart, sets by Andromache Chalfant, lights by Ben Stanton, costumes by Oana Botez-Ban, and sound by Eric Shim. Stage Manager: Christine Lemme*
