Conceived at the height of the European economic crisis, A (micro) history of world economics, danced explores our collective economic history over centuries of time. Created with and circulating around the lives of anonymous, locally sourced performers – a ballet of raw bodies share their own histories in the larger history of economics – tall, short, young, old, of different ethnicities and ancestry on stage as one community to make meaning of a crisis. Following the 7:30pm performance on October 12, there will be a Q&A with director Pascal Rambert.

Co-presented by La MaMa, etc, Performance Space 122 and French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) as part of FIAF’s Crossing the Line 2013 Festival.


 

Pascal Rambert (Director) has been the Director of the Théâtre de Gennevilliers since January 2007, He began writing and directing his own work in 1982. In 1984, he created his company Side One Posthume Théâtre. From 2004 to 2006, he was associated artist at the Bonlieu-scène nationale in Annecy. In 2006, he was nominated director of the Théâtre de Gennevillier, he was the first successor of founder, Bernard Sobel.

Crossing the Line is the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF)’s annual fall festival presenting interdisciplinary works and performances created by artists from around the world in New York. LA MAMA
La MaMa is a world-renowned cultural institution located in Manhattan’s East Village that is the home for three theaters, an art gallery, a six-story rehearsal studio building, and an extensive archive documenting the history of Off-Off Broadway. Each season, over 60 productions with over 400 performances are staged in our theaters.
